I'm delighted to announce that this weekend was our first religious retreat at St. James. Kudos to Bishop Jos for taking a leap of faith to spend a couple days at our church, despite never having set foot on the property.
There is something special about gathering together in a new location, and recently, I had the privilege of attending my first retreat at our new venue, St. James. The venue is a beautiful, historic building that had been carefully restored and modernized with more upgrades to come. The retreat was an incredible experience, and I couldn't have imagined a more perfect location to host it.
The intricate stained glass windows and the soaring arches of the ceiling give the space a sense of prayers of people long past and reverence for the sacred space. Our maiden voyage retreat was led by Bishop Jos with a couple people discerning their spiritual calling. It was an opportunity to discuss the many questions that come with the decision to lead a spirit-filled life of leadership in the church. Speaking to Bishop Jos over dinner, it became clear why he was chosen as Idaho's 14th Bishop. He is both a skilled facilitator and a humble man of God with all the necessary qualities to lead the Episcopal church into this brave new world of ours.
One of the highlights of the retreat was the opportunity to explore the venue. We spent some time admiring the architecture, and reflecting on the history of the building. It was a powerful reminder of the long and rich tradition of faith and family that has taken place in this space.
Another memorable aspect of the retreat was the opportunity to meet and connect with other attendees. There was a real sense of support that developed over the course of the weekend, as we shared meals and engaged in meaningful conversations. I can't wait to share this experience with others!
The retreat concluded with a beautiful morning prayer led by our 2 potential candidates for ordination, which took place in the stunning chapel. The beauty of the venue, and the warm and welcoming community all contributed to a weekend that left a lasting impression on me.
