To Help you plan your small but glamorous boise micro wedding, here's a checklist:
Micro weddings are becoming more popular as an alternative to break-the-bank mega weddings.
WHAT’S A MICRO WEDDING?
A micro wedding is characterized by its guest count of 50 attendees or less. Anything larger would then be categorized as a small wedding. Not to be confused with elopements, a micro wedding involves a handful of guests and typically some sort of celebratory party.
THEME
Choosing a wedding theme should be one of the first things you check off of this list. Doing so will immediately narrow down and align your decision-making process, taking some pressure off of your shoulders.
VENUE
St James is the perfect example of a micro wedding venue. We offer all the benefits of a larger space including a chapel and banquet hall and spaces for the bride to get ready. Theres no need to have the ceremony and reception in different places with St James, which reduces cost and confusion.
GUESTLIST
This is another item that can be checked off in the early stages of wedding planning and should be finished with enough time to send out a save the date a couple of months before the wedding.
Having invites or save-the-dates out early allows for all of your guests to plan ahead and figure out any travel plans with enough time to still have good rates and availability. You can use online services such as evite.com to invite guests online and keep a virtual guest list.
TRANSPORTATION AND HOTELS
If any of your guests are coming from out of town, it’s important to have options for them to stay. Additionally, figuring out transportation to and from our venue is a breeze in small town Idaho. At St James, there are multiple well known hotel chains within 10 minutes of Payette in Ontario, OR. You can get a reduced rate if you block off several hotel rooms for your guests with the added bonus of everyone staying near eachother. We also have some lovely little airbnbs nearby.
DECORATIONS
Decorations are a creative way to enhance your theme and elevate your aesthetic—they’re an important part of all weddings, regardless of size. Finding decorations that fit your personality will help make the big day even more special. Not sure where to start? We recommend choosing a color palette that ties together all aspects of your wedding, from save-the-date mailers to flowers and the wedding cake.
Pinterest is another extremely useful tool for pulling together small wedding ideas as well as decoration inspiration. Create a board specifically for your wedding decorations so that you can share it with whoever else is helping you plan so that you all can be on the same page.
MUSIC OR DJ
Music truly sets the tone of any event, so having music that speaks to your dream wedding should not be overlooked. Consider a live band to walk you down the aisle, or ask your friend about the DJ they had at their wedding if you had a great time there.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE CATERING
One of the many benefits of having fewer guests is the opportunity to spend more per head when it comes to food to make your wedding extra special. Give your guests a night to remember with unforgettable food. At many small wedding venues, catering is a breeze. Our favorite catering comes from a restaurant in Ontario, OR called Mackays. Catering menues start at $11/person.
PHOTOGRAPHER AND VIDEOGRAPHER
Having a photographer or videographer at your wedding takes off any stress of capturing your big day. These memorabilia will last a lifetime and are sure to always take you back to the magic. This is also a great option if you prefer a phone-free ceremony because you’ll still be able to look back and relive the day.
Ultimately, your wedding day is a celebration of you and your partner. The most important thing is that you spend the day in an environment that makes you both feel happy, excited, and supported. Please keep this in mind as you work your way through this checklist. And if this all sounds overwhelming, we have a team of experts if you need planning help along the way. We’ll see you at St James!
